How much does the cottage cost?
The price of the cottage includes everything except the 7% Maine lodging tax. Optional fees include Lodging Guarantee, linen & equipment rental and pet fees.

Do I get a discount if I stay an extended period of time?
Usually discounts are available in the shoulder seasons. Ask the Reservationist if there is a discount available on your cottage.

Do I need to bring linen?
All cottages have mattress pads, blankets, pillows and bedspreads unless otherwise indicated in the descriptions. In most properties linens are not provided. You can rent linens directly from us. You will mailed a Linen Order form. If you prefer you may bring your own linens. Linens should include bath mats and kitchen towels.

Does this cottage have a kitchen?
Yes, these are all private homes with all of the amenities of a full size house. These are not little cabins lined up in a row on the shore.

How far is the cottage from the water?
More than 70% of our cottages are within 100 feet of the shore line or less. Most of our houses are an easy walk to the shore.

Where's the beach?
By the time you get this far north, you will find that the glaciers didn't leave much behind. We do not have large sandy beaches. We have wonderful rocky shores with seaweed and tidal pools. Small beaches of sand or pebbles are scattered like hidden treasures between the protecting ridges of granite that run down into the sea.

Is smoking permitted?
Some people are very sensitive to the smell of smoke; therefore, all of our cottages are non-smoking unless the owner smokes.

What time can I check in?
Check-In time is 4:00 p.m. This year we are offering Express Check-In for those people who are fully paid and where the cottage is ready early.

What do I have to do when I leave?
You are expected to leave the property in the same condition in which you received it. There is a checklist provided in the Cottage Book in the cottage. Please remember, this is a private home. If you want help with the departure cleaning, call our office by Wednesday of the week before you arrive to arrange for additional help. This is available for an additional fee.

Why do I have to pay the whole amount of the rent so far in advance?
When we take your reservation, we are guaranteeing the owner full payment of the rent for that period. Our season is very short, 8 weeks long. The owners count on this income to pay their expenses.

Can we come a day early or stay an additional day if we want to?
If the cottage is not rented during those weeks, this may be possible and the extra cost is prorated on a 5 night rate.

How much is the Security Deposit?
We do not take Security Deposits any longer. Unlike other places that take a security deposit and hold it for an extended period of time, we have covered you with a $500 maximum damage waiver. This avoids the need to collect and hold large sums of your money. Should the damage you cause not qualify for this waiver, you will be expected to pay for all repairs.

Am I permitted to have overnight guests?
Yes, as long as the occupancy limit is not exceeded and their names are listed on your Rental Agreement.

How far are you from the airport?
1 hour and 15 minutes to the Portland International Airport.

What type of clothing should I bring?
Be prepared for anything from rain or fog to sun and high temperatures. But rest assured, no matter what the weather, it will surely change from day to day. The degree of change depends upon the time of year. In the spring and fall, you can expect warm days and cool evenings. It is best to pack a medium-weight waterproof jacket, sweats, pants, and shorts. In the summer you should expect hot days and warm evenings; a light jacket or sweater is usually sufficient. Bring plenty of cool clothes such as shorts, skirts, and loose-fitting dresses and pants. Of course, you could pack very little and buy what you need when you get here - the shopping is fantastic!
