You are just a short walk from the Newagen Inn for dinner or drinks, swimming or playing tennis.  Visit Dorothy's ruby red slippers at the Southport Library just a short walk away.  Perhaps lunch at Oliver's or pick up a pizza or sandwich at the Southport General Store before heading to Hendricks' Head Beach for some swimming.  A small sandy beach with Cat Island sitting just offshore and a view of Hendricks' Head Lighthouse (privately owned).  Wander into Boothbay Harbor (about 10 minutes by car) for more shopping, boat trips, art galleries and more.  So much to do, so little time.....

SO MUCH TO SEE, SO MUCH TO DO!
You will be within walking distance of the Newagen Inn for dinner or a snack in the lounge.  Wander down to the Library or over to the Town Landing to enjoy the views of Cuckold Lighthouse and Cape Island (formerly owned by Margaret Hamilton the actress who was the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz and was also known as Cora, the Maxwell House Coffee Lady.  You will love the warm welcome one gets from this lovely cabin, designed for families or couples looking for privacy and space. Wander down the path through the Bay Leaf Bushes and Blueberries and sit on the bench or rocks to enjoy beautiful views and nighttime skies.  Drive just a short distance for a meal at the Newagen Seaside Inn, Oliver's in Cozy Harbor or stop by the Southport General Store for pizza, sandwiches, sundries and more.

THE HOUSE
Enter through the classic country kitchen with its Hoosier Cabinet, open shelving and plenty of space.  Check out the decorative panel on the screen door.  Then into the open living and dining area with its fireplace (insert).  This room has views through the picture windows out to Atlantic Ocean.  From the living room you may exit to the covered porch or into the bedroom area.  The bedroom area consists of a bedroom with two twin beds (along with in room sink); a hall bath with tub; another bedroom with a king bed and doorway into a shared bath.  The third bedroom with a queen bed and windows to the ocean as well as a door to the porch and the shared bath.  Nicely appointed and comfortable.  This cottage invites you to come in, relax and enjoy.  Bring your friends along to share the cottage for the week.  Rent some kayaks and put them in at the nearby Newagen Town Landing, just a short drive from the house and Hendricks Head Beach is a few minutes drive.

WHY BOOK WITH COTTAGE CONNECTION?
Vacation Rentals. Privately Owned. Professionally Managed. Trusted since 1993.
Cottage Connection was one of the first vacation rental companies in the Mid-coast region of Maine. Jeff and Audrey Miller, who own three vacation rental homes themselves had an aha moment when they realized they could not find anyone who ‘got it’ to manage their rentals for them. Since 1993 they have been trusted by homeowners and vacationers to “connect” each family with the perfect cottage for their vacation. As Audrey puts it; “The home they stay in becomes a personality, a part of their lore, when a family connects with the right cottage. Whether they want a rustic cabin in the woods or a high-end ocean bungalow, the right setting sets the tone for the entire vacation.” Learn more about how Cottage Connection can help make your vacation perfect!

BOOTHBAY REGION
The Boothbay Peninsula is a beautiful region rich in culture, history, all things nautical and of course it’s own unique niche in nature. The area offers ample opportunities for biking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, charters and guided cruises, spas, a championship golf course and country club, mini-golf, bowling, museums, antiquing, hiking and walking trails. We have the Maine State Aquarium, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and the Boothbay Region Land Trust with its 30+ miles of pet friendly trails in protected areas. SOUTHPORT ISLAND
Southport Island is a hidden treasure on the Boothbay Peninsula. Eight miles for Boothbay Harbor, you cross the historic swing bridge onto the island and feel the world change around you. You know you are on vacation. Small sandy beaches, large expanses of rocky shoreline, views of islands and open ocean, walking, kayaking, fishing and more! This quaint and historical part of Maine is treasured by the few who know of it! From the shore you can see Cape Island owned by Margaret Hamilton who played the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz. A pair f Ruby Red Slippers are on display at the Islands library. Hendricks Head Lighthouse and Beach are just a short ride away for those who prefer swimming on more of a sandy beach. Rachel Carson frequented Southport often and mentions the area in her books. Cuckold Lighthouse can be seen just off shore. This small little spit of land is rich in history, marine life, unique ecology and more. You will come back again and again!
